Cinematography in Submarine

Cinematography in submarineThe first image is a close up as the main focus is Jordana. She is the main focus because she is the only thing that Oliver cares about and you can see the background is not in focus and this shows she is his priority.
The other type of shot is the low angle shot. This makes her look more important. as the camera is pointing up to her. It also could infer that Oliver looks up to Jordana and if you look up to someone it often means they are important.
The first type of shot is a medium shot because you can see quite a lot of the class room. Although it is Oliver who takes the most attention. How he is sitting is angled: it is almost as if he is on the edge of the class and the other people his age. The other type is an eye level shot because the audience is at the same level as the students and the teacher is much taller and seems more important. Additionally in the classroom there are lots of different shades of blue. From the navy of the school uniform to the pale blue on the walls as well as the medium blue on the door and on the notice board. This could be one of the many references to the film name 'submarine' and the different shades of blue could represent the water.
